Dr. Beata Summer-Brason is board certified in Internal Medicine, Integrative and Holistic Medicine and Palliative and Hospice Care. She received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, completing residency in Internal Medicine at Tufts University Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA and the latter two certifications while in practice. Currently, Dr. Summer-Brason also works as the Hospitalist Medical Director for Queens Medical Center West Oahu. Her love of Osteopathy has only continued to grow since completing her training.
The philosophy of Osteopathy is a based on a fundamental principle that the body can heal itself. The training in Osteopathy taught practitioners to treat the whole patient (body, mind, spirit). By doing so it is more likely to identify a cause of the symptoms and achieve relief of suffering. Health is an intricate balance in the whole body. The body compensates or attempts to correct any imbalance. If this compensatory mechanism is overwhelmed, symptoms or disease manifest. Osteopathic treatment is used to support the whole person in almost any condition to augment the natural healing mechanism already at work. It usually eases pain and suffering and can restore health.
