What to Expect from the Visit

Initial Discussion -  * First visit review of medical history provided on Intake forms. A discussion of your current concerns and/or response to treatment. 

Examination - An appropriate physical/structural exam.  It is ideal to wear loose comfortable clothing for both the exam and treatment. 

Osteopathic Treatment -  Osteopathic manipulative treatment is usually 20-30 minutes in duration and involves hands on manipulation in a gentle way to allow the restrictions in the bones, tissues and fluids to be relieved.*  Patients may be requested to engage their own muscle strength as part of the treatment.  Most patients notice a change immediately while others may simply feel a deep sense of relaxation noting changes later.  The treatment itself continues for 72hrs and it is encouraged to drink plenty of liquids and allow enough rest to maximize the benefits.  The ongoing effect of treatment continues over weeks and even years depending on the chronicity of symptoms and the body's ability to resolve the issue or simply manage it.   

* Please note:  There are multiple Osteopathic modalities employed by Osteopathic physicians chosen by personal preference, skill and patient condition. All are employed to engage the healing mechanism in the body.

Assessment and Plan - Depending on the issue, further osteopathic manual treatments may be recommended.
